They say that you should never talk about religion, politics or yourself for a reason. Following this morning’s leadership change in the Australian Liberal Party from silver fox, Malcolm Turnbull to Prince Charles impersonator, Tony Abbott, Facebook, Twitter and other social media outlets have been ablaze with commentary from supporters of both sides of the fence to assert their parliamentary position.
While political debate is intriguing, your party preference is yours and yours only to know. If you work in government, sure, it’s only natural that one can presume to whom you give your vote, but by publicly revealing your alliance can have ramifications.
Remember that Facebook and Twitter are permanent public record, so exercise what you say and about whom with prudence. Friendships have been both forged and destroyed over which way one sways and some countries people are killed for their opinions.
So let’s settle this the respectable and old-fashioned way … with a beauty contest. Cast your vote who should have won the election to be the leader of the opposition.
