Alot to assuage grammar pedantry

The clever and hilarious Allie Brosh at Hyperbole and a Half has created a delightfully low-fi Microsoft Paint-illustrated comic strip discussing how she best copes with grammatical errors in internet forums and YouTube comments. Always the eternal optimist, she presumes that missing apostrophes or single-letter punctuation can be attributed to the possession of talons or single digits. However, she has one device to deal with her most feared grammatical error—the contraction of the phrase ‘a lot’ into ‘alot’.

Pictured above is her interpretation of a mythical and friendly beast, the Alot. This grammatical personification eases the pain of seeing the English language bastardised; all in the form of a big friendly animal.

For example, when I read the sentence “I care about this alot,” this is what I imagine:

Make sure you introduce yourself to the Alot at Hyperbole and a Half.
