When I was a lot younger I recall picking up a greeting card in a newsagency with an image of a bare-buttocked man wearing an apron, washing the dishes at the kitchen sink. Several years on, the punchline escapes me, but I’m sure the puerile humour, the early-Nineties styling and four-colour print process remain the same.
Italian designer, Ernest Perera has created self-drying dishware that disposes of the traditional dish-drainer, instead standing ceramic plates on their ends allowing them to drain freely on the sink. It’s a space-saving idea perfect for clearing clutter in small apartments and for those who do not own their own ball bearing dishwasher. Ahh … that’s the punchline!
