In Short

Short and sweet, here are the pressing issues (well, some of them) for your Agony Uncle this week.

How do I remember people’s names more effectively?

John R., New York, NY

Knowing both someone’s given name and surname will ensure you’ll never forget, but in an informal situation try a mnemonic device. Associate them with their profession (Gary the plumber), alliteration (Blonde Belinda) or a physical attribute, but be careful–you don’t want to refer to someone as Big-Nosed Barry to their face!

How would I know how to shake this milkshake all over the place?

Ben H., Prahran, VIC

If you have booty, just let it bounce. If you have an actual milkshake, then I suggest you stop playing with your food and get on the dance floor.

What are some similarities and differences between Blanche from A Streetcar Named Desire and Bernice from The Piano Lesson?

Edwin V., Chicago, IL

If you’d asked me about Blanche Devereux of The Golden Girls I could have given you an expert opinion, instead, I suggest you finish your own essay; this is not Cliff Notes.
