Glam Ham: Knives for Perfect Prosciutto

Glam Ham: Knives for Perfect Prosciutto

Everyone has their Sunday morning ritual. Some get the paper and read it over coffee while ignoring their significant other. Some peel themselves from the bathroom floor and manage to make it to the sofa and no further. Some consume their eighteenth drink from the night before and put their hands in their air. Hands down, my favourite thing to do on a Sunday is to sit in bed, put on a movie and eat ham.

There’s something about that smoked leg of our snout-nosed friends that has the restoration powers of a two-week holiday in the Maldives and the flavour of 1,000 packets of Burger Rings. It doesn’t require accompaniment; ham can be consumed with a fork and without self-reproach.

Italian industrial designer, Luca Nichetto presented his prosciutto utensils, the result of his collaboration with prosciutto manufacturer, Prosciutteria King at the recent Milan Design Week. Made from tempered steel with a methacrylate coating, the collection includes a ham clamp, carving knife and tongs, making it an elegant addition to the kitchen of the most discerning of porcine patrons. In my opinion, more things in life should require a ham clamp.
