You know that scene in The Witches of Eastwick where Alexandra (Cher!), Sukie and Jane make a wax effigy of Daryl Van Horne and he proceeds to flail about and cough up feathers? Have you ever fantasised about doing the same to your personal version of the devil incarnate? Well now you can!
Chilean-born conceptual artist, Sebastian Errazuriz has created a 600-pound Italian marble fireplace that mimics a stage and proscenium arch for a miniature wooden opera. Designed to be installed in any house with a flue, presumably, owners can recline on their leopard skin rug and watch the little man be charred to death whilst warming their fingertips and toasting marshmallows.
The marble hand-carving was performed in Brooklyn by Mr Errazuriz and two experienced marble craftsmen, taking several months due to the design’s complexity and the thickness of the marble. Once incinerated, additional wooden actors may be ordered for a significant sum, however, we feel it might be much more fun to get crafty with a penknife, a bit of plywood and a lock of your enemy’s hair.
