This candle ashtray designed by Italian studio, flussocreativo has a paraffin wax body with a wick that winds along its edge. Once lit, the wick burns in a circular manner, dissolving the wax as it burns, and trapping the cigarette butts (and allegedly their odour) in a little melted wax puddle.
Even if I am not convinced that the world was crying out for a contraption which creates a molten ash paperweight, I suppose one has to admire their ingenuity. And it is definitely something you could light and play with if you were bored with your e-cigarettes.
But if they could just turn their attention to creating a life-sized version that would enable us to capture airplane food, comb-overs and Crocs shoes in wax and dispose of them, I think I’d be more on their side.
