We men are undergoing an image transformation from beer-swilling, Chiko roll-wielding Neanderthals to beer-sipping, rice paper roll-nibbling gentry. It seems that we’re progressing in a retrospective manner to the days of yore when steam power was de rigeur and opium could be procured without harried trip in someone’s derrière.
Some might accuse this modern dandy of being an effete, foppish nancy boy, but this same man knows the difference between and cleanser and toner as much as he can differentiate between power tools: I’ll have you know that I know how to and have operated a bandsaw—it was the reason I dropped out of art school. However, it appears the whole world is noticing this metamorphosis.
Due to launch shortly and located in Prague, Pánská Pasáž is destined to be the first shopping centre in the Czech Republic dedicated to men. Translating into ‘Gentlemen’s Arcade’, the 800 m² space will house 19 luxury boutiques for gentlemen with tenants like Ralph Lauren, accessories boutique, Luxury Office and Austrian tailor, Knize. Developed by Metrostav, the centre will also be home to a gourmet food market stocking delicacies for the discerning gent, a shoe boutique, a tobacconist, a barbershop and perfumery, Fragonard.
Refined gentlemen everywhere, rejoice!
