A familiar tale: Bride says, “I’d love you to be my bridesmaid. It will be loads of fun and you’ll totally be able to wear the dress again!” Bridesmaid-to-be gushes: “Why I can’t think of anything I’d rather do more in the whole wide world than spend a lot of money to look just as you want me to. Let’s be honest, I’ve always wanted to own something unflattering with a lot of ruching in puce. Count me in! I just wish I could do it twice!”
Behold, coming down the aisle is NewlyMaid, a new service offering bridesmaids a way to turn their dresses into something they will actually wear. Accepting bridesmaids’ dresses from most bridal industry brands, customers simply visit NewlyMaid and purchase a trade-in mailer for sending their garment. Within a week, their mailer arrives including a prepaid return shipping label, packing and shipping instructions.
Once NewlyMaid receives the gently used garment (which must meet specific criteria for trade-in credit) special pricing for a new dress is unlocked for the customer’s account, who can then purchase a new, fashionable black dress and put the whole bridesmaid awkwardness behind them while old dresses are either broken down into thread for re-use or donated to charity. I do!
