Each month as we find ourselves in yet another full moon cycle, I know that two things are guaranteed: crazy stuff is going to happen; and I’m not going to get any sleep. While the two are sometimes directly related, I’m informed that most hospitals put on additional nursing staff and there is a higher incidence of colorectal injuries during this time. Ouch. Now there’s some food for thought.
Here perhaps is the solution to lunar-related insomnia. Korean designer, Lily Suh from i3Lab, has created the “Full Moon Odyssey” floor mattress, which is a digitally printed composition comprising 26 segments of high-resolution lunar mosaic images taken by astronomy photographer, Chin Wei Loon.
Made to order for US$1,970 (plus $250 postage and handling) and almost 3.5 metres in diameter, it is perhaps the one way you’re guaranteed sleep on a full moon.
