I’ve not-so-fond memories as a child of my mother asking me how it was possible for me to miss my mouth when eating soup considering it was so big. Times have changed, my hand-eye coordination has improved and I rarely miss my mouth, although, hitting a tennis ball is still a skill that eludes me. Wearing whites that barely cover my crotch I have mastered, but as for a match, you’ll be lucky if I make it past the first game.
If wearing white and eating a meal unscathed still plagues you, then perhaps here is the solution. The recent winner of the Electrolux Design Lab competition, Slovakian industrial designer, Adrian Mankovecký, has developed a prototype for a portable spot cleaner. Compact and portable it’s a must for accident-prone travellers, allowing them to remove oil, ink or coffee stains or freshen clothing using steam and negative ions, all powered by a sugar crystal battery. Sounds high-tech, right? The sooner this happens the better, but for now we’ll have to get by the old-fashioned way: a dab of saliva.
