Celestial Seeing: Halley Outdoor Lighting

The last time Halley’s Comet streamed across the night sky, although I was quite young I remember there being a song and dance about it. Commemorative wines were made, children and nerds alike were emblazoned with the shooting star’s branded flotsam and I’m certain 1986′s club scene dedicated entire parties to the coming of the celestial body. The comet is due to appear again on 28 July 2061 when, unless modern science has a hand, I’ll be trading my meds with others in their dotage in the local nursing home. In fact, there’s even a Facebook event for it.

With the season of al fresco dining upon us, this simple and elegant LED-strip lighting fixture by Jordi Vildardell and Mertixell Vidal is inspired by Halley’s Comet. Waterproof and available in three configurations—ground-to-ground, ground-to-wall and ground-to-clamp—it’s ”the perfect amount of light for your outdoor entertaining, without being garish or overpowering.” Perfect to party like it’s 2061.
