I have fond memories as a teenager taking lunches to high school comprising smoked salmon and brie sandwiches. Today such an act mightn’t seem so extravagant, but fifteen years ago when I was mincing about to the Spice Girls before I went on to discover house music and the rave scene (ugh!), it was certainly something reserved for toffy-nosed brats. The gourmet sandwiches played such an interesting juxtaposition alongside the fun-sized packet of chicken Twisties and Mars Bar in the brown paper lunch bag. In fact, it was around the same time, like so many my age, learnt the term ‘juxtaposition’ and proceeded to include it in every English Literature essay, before learning to abolish it forever more. That is unless you’re a Fine Art student or a bad fashion publicist.
