Have you ever been to a hens’ night where they ask the bride-to-be questions they’ve already asked the groom-to-be and compare the results to hilarious effect? I am sure this does not happen at bucks’ nights so, gentlemen, just bear with me. Now you can play this game throughout your marriage rather than having actual conversations by way of bringing you closer to your partner.
This innovation is the brainchild of Karla Stephens-Tolstoy and Alexander (Al) Tolstoy, and comes in the form of website, Tokii, which describes itself as a “social media facilitator.” The theory is that playing games online together (“What are your values about natural disasters?” for example) will facilitate learning and greater understanding about your partner.
The site is not alone, with similar sites like theicebreak (spaces are so yawn, and why are you having the break the ice in your existing relationship??) and Kahnoodle (nothing says romance like kahnoodle, no?) allowing you to build a relationship while maintaining eye contact with the most important thing in your life: your computer.
One has to ask oneself what is wrong with playing a game of cards, Monopoly or perhaps (gasp!) speaking with each other in order to effect some of the aims espoused by these sites? But perhaps I’m just frightfully old fashioned and who am I to stand in the way of true (online) love?
