Burberry has done a lot to rid its tarnished image of knock-offs and “chavaliers” of late. With three-dimensional advertising campaigns shot by Mario Testino, celebrity endorsements from quintessentially British actors, actresses and up-and-coming rockstars, Burberry Acoustic renditions (shot by Watch Listen Tell) by musicians of note furnished completely in Burberry, of course; they’ve fast become one of the world’s coolest and forward-thinking brands.
Now with a return to true luxury, Burberry has introduced its Burberry Bespoke service: custom trenchcoats for the jetset. Not just a humble mackintosh, ladies and gents may customise the various details to produce a one-off piece to treasure for a lifetime. Customers may choose between fabrics, colours, lining, sleeve and hardware customisations, collar and belt styles, and an embroidered monogram.
While the design and customisation process takes place online, customers can chat online or speak to someone on the telephone, for the extra personalised personalisation service. And for those who mightn’t be able to afford such a service, they can still build their ultimate trenchcoat and share it on social media. I know what Father Christmas will be asked for when I sit on his knee!
