MC Escher is Not a Hip-Hop Artist: Erïk Bjerkesjö’s Footwear Lookbook

In this day and age you could be forgiven for thinking that MC Escher is a rap artist of some description, in production cahoots with Timbaland, possibly billed in the media as the next Kanye West. Although it would be mildly amusing you’d be very wrong.

Swedish menswear designer, now based in Florence, Erïk Bjerkesjö, takes inspiration from the illustrator-cum-surrealist-cum-mathematician-cum-doctor’s-surgery-artist in his footwear lookbook. Using interesting materials like corrugated velvet and calf leather, his shoe line is organic, using vegetable tannins and hand finished with blake stitching and eighteen-carat gold pins. Sounds like these bling shoes aren’t so far removed from rap after all.
